For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
I Thessalonians 4:7 KJV
Two marks of a great trip are good company and what the heart of the trip is. Sometimes these two are difficult to find. Ever found yourself on a school bus (not pleasant) with a person who doesn't bathe, uses foul language, or can't be still for any reason? This makes for a long ride home, because they usually get off the bus after you. All you want is a ride with some time to unwind from the school day, and a clean laugh or two with classmates.
Here is a ride you cannot pass up! God, in I Thessalonians 4:7, invites us to travel through this life with Him. Could you imagine anyone better to travel with? He is nothing but clean and wants to help you stay that way. His wisdom gets you through some of life's toughest bends. He helps with the big stuff, as well as the small stuff, like schoolwork. His personality is sure to make for great company, anytime. This trip will not leave you empty, guilty, or lost at all.
Come along with us, the youth, or Jet Setters, rich people who travel widely for pleasure. We are rich is Christ, traveling all over sharing the pleasure we have in our lives through our Savior. Let's take the High Road in our lives and travel with Jesus Christ.
YEARLY ACTIVITIES
Youth Rally
Summer Camp
Each summer our youth takes a week to just get away and experience a time of renewing their walk with the Lord. Daily Bible teaching, short impacting discussions on life issues from the biblical view, and close friendship with other Christians make this week something special. Throw in some fun sports, competitions, and plenty of water, our teens really have one terrific time.
Mission Trips
To the world and to every tongue we will go as our Savior leads (even if we cannot speak the language). Our focus is to share Christ with a lost world. We can only tell what we know to be true and that is that God loves us and wants us to come to Him by the only door which is Jesus the Christ. Our youth enjoyed mission trips to New York City the summer of 2009 and San Salvador, Bahamas in July 2012, and we look forward to more trips in the future. See the missions page for more information.
Sunday Morning Bible Study
Yes, the Bible does speak to teenagers on issues that are important to young people. God wants to share His heart and wisdom through His love letter, the Bible. He wrote it just for us because He wants to give us the best life imaginable.
Wednesday Evening Youth Service
Teenagers can worship as well as anyone. God loves the praise of His people. You do not have to waite for adulthood to sing, hear God's word and apply it, pray like the great saints of old, nor wait to offer what you have to the Lord. We live with the charge from God to, "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." We are prepared to live for Christ now, not later.
Junior & Senior Banquet
With all that bombards teens today, they need some godly, clean alternatives to the events that do not benefit their lives. So, in the spring of the year we provide a formal Junior & Senior night with dinner and a limousine, followed by fun activities, all with adult chaperones. They are there just to make sure the night is perfect.
Bible Quiz
For more than thirty years, during the school year, the teens of Lakeside have volunteered to participate in Bible Quiz. Each teen memorizes fifteen scripture verses per month, and then competes with others in a test of speed and recall. Quizzing is a valuable tool in their lives because the Word of God is our lifeline. We know God's Word is for our spiritual life, everlasting medicine, and a cure for life's woes. Proverbs 4:21 & 22 says "Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they [are] life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh."
